Our approach
Every plan I write starts from the same three ideas. They don't change client to client — the details do, but the foundation stays the same.
Principle one
Most people don't fail at health goals because they lack willpower — they fail because the plan asked for more than their life could hold. I build plans around your actual schedule, energy, and stress levels, not an idealized version of your week. That means slower progress at first, and a much higher chance it actually sticks a year from now.
Principle two
I'm not here to hand you a generic program and disappear. Coaching starts with listening — to what you've already tried, what's worked, what hasn't, and what you actually want out of this. You bring the goal and the context; I bring the structure, accountability, and course-correction along the way.
Principle three
No trends, no fads, no guesswork. Every recommendation draws on established principles of nutrition science and behavior change — the kind of unglamorous, well-tested stuff that actually holds up over time. If something sounds too good to be true in a coaching session, it's probably not something I'll suggest.
About Matthew
I started Growthstead after watching too many people — myself included, at times — bounce between extremes that never lasted. My approach is built around the belief that steady, honest, well-paced change beats intensity every time. I work with clients directly, one on one, so the plan actually reflects the person it's for.
